Governor Uzodimma Advocates Increased Budgetary Provisions for Military Welfare

In a press release from the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has emphasized the need for an increment in budgetary provisions to cater not only to the expansion of Army Barracks but also to the welfare of serving Military personnel, the Legion, their orphans, wives, and other dependents.


 Governor Uzodimma made this proposal during a courtesy visit by the House of Representatives Committee on Army, stressing the importance of sufficient funding to effectively defend the state. 


He urged the National Assembly to prioritize the welfare of the Military for the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.


 The Governor welcomed the Committee and urged the Brigade Commander to showcase the challenges facing the Army in the state. 


He highlighted the recent challenges faced by the Army in Imo State and the South East, emphasizing the need for support and assistance from both the Federal and State Governments.


 Governor Uzodimma also suggested empowerment programs and skill acquisition for families living in barracks to alleviate their struggles. 


He acknowledged the synergy between the Army and other security agencies and called for continued collaboration. 


The Chairman of the Committee on Army expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to visit and praised his leadership.


 The Committee's visit aims to assess the budget of the Nigerian Army and examine the situation on the ground. 


Various dignitaries were present to receive the Committee, including the Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, and members of the Imo State Expanded Executive Council.
